Workshop “Teaching Thermodynamics”

As much as learning thermodynamics is a great challenge to many students from first year undergraduates to last year PhD students, Teaching Thermodynamics is a great challenge to many university teachers.

In the Teaching Thermodynamics session, teaching experiences and successful examples will be presented and discussed. Unsuccessful tries are also welcome to be presented so that all participants can learn from them. Furthermore presentations of research regarding how different teaching methods are used is welcome. Our objective is to depict an awareness of the problems of education together with a wide spectrum of opinions on their solution. Abstracts dealing with new trends in education, educational research, scholarly teaching … are most welcome.

This session is organized in cooperation with the education task group of the Working Party of Thermodynamics and transport properties. This group seeks to further information exchange between universities and industry and share expertise and ideas for best practice in chemical engineering thermodynamics education.
